About Us

We are delighted to offer a unique variety of accommodation and ticket packages in Poland for the legendary Chopin Piano Competition, October 2 to 21, 2015. The chief aim is to allow you to truly be part of the different stages of the competition in the company of likeminded people from many countries; we will also help you discover the art, architectural and urban treasures of this emerging European Capital, with a number of optional tours led by expert lecturers. We have created several packages, each including one or more rounds of the competition. It is crucial that you make your reservation as early as possible, since our partners hotels in Poland have offered us a limited number of rooms at these discounted rates. I will personally serve as your manager and host throughout.

Sitting Plan

Chopin Competition Sitting Plan

THE WARSAW PHILHARMONIC

Having attended this Competition since 1995, we can report that although far from perfect—you will rarely find an acoustically-dry place at the Hall. The acoustics of the Hall are quite rich and velvety (if in certain places in the parterre a bit metallic). As far as seating on the left or right side to see the performers’ hands, it is a matter of personal choice. Your package includes tickets in section III.

SECTION III: The first two rows plus rows 19 and 20 of the parterre. In the balcony, the rows 4 and 5 directly behind the jury (as well as left and right from them) plus the row 4 of the balcony sides (excellent views and sound).

SECTION I: Rows 8 to 16 of the parterre and rows 1 and 2 of the central balcony plus row 1 of the lateral balcony (for great views and sound). Rows 1 and 2 of the balcony have the added advantage of allowing you to closely observe and probably run into the jury.

SECTION II: Rows 3 to 7 and 17 to 18 of the parterre; row 3 of the curved section of the first balcony and row 3 of the lateral balcony (outstanding sound and views). Second balcony, 1st row.

Accommodations

HOTELS

We have selected more than a dozen different hotels in Warsaw for you to choose from. From members of “The Luxury Collection” to the most modern Intercontinental in Europe, to far more modest establishments, our offer includes only immaculate hand-picked properties. We favored hotels in the vicinity of the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall. All participants will be given a public transportation pass for the duration of their stay; however, we suggest hotels within easy walking distance to the hall.

A) Gromada Warsaw Center | 3

B) Hotel Metropol | 3 “excellence”

C) St Andrew’s Palace | 4 deluxe

D) Novotel | 4 standard

E) Polonia Palace | 4 deluxe

F) Sofitel Warsaw | 5

G) Bristol Warsaw | 5 deluxe

With the exception of the Bristol and Sofitel, all our hotels are within walking distance of the competition venue. The Gromada is three blocks away; The St Andrew’s Palace is four blocks away, and The Polonia, Metropol, and Novotel are all six blocks away.

A) GROMADA HOTEL CENTRUM | 3 STANDARD

Three blocks away from the competition venue

The Hotel Gromada, Warszawa Centrum is a 3-star property located a stone’s throw away from the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall, together with St Andrew’s Palace, the closest properties to the competition venue. It features spacious rooms with all modern amenities. This is a rather basic no-frills property; however, it is immaculately clean and comfortable. The location makes up for the (sometimes) soviet-style service. It is an excellent budget option. Don’t count on the staff being very amiable or that everyone speaks English (or understands you), but the front desk staff is efficient. The Internet signal in the rooms is variable at best, but very good with a cable (provided by the hotel). Good breakfast.

B) HOTEL METROPOL | 3 “excellence”

Six blocks away from the competition venue

Sandwiched between the Polonia (now Polonia Palace) and the Forum (now Novotel), this hotel was the place the Russian mafia gathered in communist times. It was a depressed, dark, smelly, and dirty property. Completely renovated only last year, it has emerged as the best 3-star hotel in the center, and only a few blocks from the Philharmonic Hall. It faces the train station and offers a perfect location from which to attend the competition (only surpassed by the Gromada and the St Andrews). The rooms are simple yet practical – and spotless. Some of them offer grand views of the city and all have very good Wi-Fi ( free in the rooms). It offers very good restaurants and a piano bar.

C) ST ANDREW’S PALACE | 4 deluxe

Four blocks from the Warsaw Philharmonic Hall

This beautiful building is, in our opinion, the best all-suites property in Warsaw. It is not a quite a hotel, as the reception closes at 10:PM when the staff becomes only available by phone ( free call from your room). It does not offer room service or serve any meals. You will be, however, in the heart of the pedestrian area of Warsaw and will not have to walk even a half block to find a bar, café, or restaurant. The suites are tastefully decorated (by a Veronese designer). Italian fabrics and beautiful curtains. Excellent quality linen and pillows. Comfortable beds, and exquisite decoration in the living area. All suites have a small kitchen (supermarket across the street), and they offer large TVs, elegant bathrooms and fine towels. All suites offer a washing machine (very practical for long stays). Invite your new friends over for cocktails or to watch the competition on live TV and be able to comment on the performances. This is our preferred hotel in the city. Breakfast is rather simple, but sufficient. Our staff resides here during the competition. Good Internet signal in the rooms (free). You may enjoy our hospitality suite offering free drinks and snacks.

D) HOTEL NOVOTEL | 3 STANDARD

Five blocks away from the competition venue

Another renovation miracle in Warsaw, now owned by the Accor Hotel Chain. This former soviet-style hotel is still the largest hotel in the city with over 800 rooms. It continues to be a large concrete tower without personality or charm; however, the professional staff is committed to help you in every way possible and yes, they all speak good English. Free Internet in the rooms with strong signal. Excellent French restaurant serving a terrific fare and a very good breakfast. Sauna and a Fitness center complement the offer. The rooms are ample, functional, and with plenty of light. It has all modern amenities (and they all work). This is the property where the participants stay during the competition. Plenty of bars, cafes, and restaurants in the vicinity.

E) POLONIA PALACE | 4 deluxe

Six blocks away from the competition venue

Founded by a member of a well-respected aristocratic family, it opened its doors on July 14, 1913, introducing hot and cold running water in every room, central heating, and dial telephones. Today, the Polonia Palace is a delightful mix of tradition and modernity, of beauty and comfort, of excellence and genuine warmth. Large, elegant rooms offer every modern comfort. Guests can enjoy free access to the fitness center and sauna.

F) SOFITEL VICTORIA | 5

15/20 minutes walking or a five minute walk plus a five minute tram ride to the competition — we will provide a tram pass for the duration of your stay

The fully renovated Sofitel Warsaw was re-designed in collaboration with the renowned French architect Didier Gomez. The hotel is located in the very heart of Warsaw, just a stone’s throw from the Old Town, the Royal Palace, and the National Opera House. This is where the jury stays during the competition, and is one of the most elegant Sofitel Hotels in Europe. Need we say more?

G) HOTEL BRISTOL | 5 deluxe

10 minutes by tram from the competition hall — we will provide a tram pass for the duration of your stay

Situated in the heart of Warsaw, on the famous Royal Route, and about a 5-minute bus ride to the Philharmonic Hall, the Hotel Bristol has served as the city’s most remarkable landmark and distinguished destination since 1901. The property enchants with majestic neo-renaissance facade and romantic interiors filled with Art Deco elegance and luxury finishes. Following its restoration, the Bristol now enjoys even more incomparable beauty, being a prestigious blend of history and contemporary luxury. The exquisite 168 guest rooms and 38 suites reflect the engaging mix of comfort and discreet elegance defined by subtle soothing colors, state-of-the-art technology, majestic high ceilings, and charming views. Probably the most elegant and beautiful hotel in the city, complete with a fitness center, pool and sauna.

APARTMENTS

If you simply would like to have the convenience of a home away from home, we offer a wide range of self-catered apartments, most of them just blocks away from the Philharmonic Hall. They feature a fully equipped kitchen and a washing machine. Not all of them offer two single beds in the bedroom. A sofa bed in the living area is the norm; however, with enough time, we can arrange for two single beds to be in the bedroom allowing you to use the living area as such. All apartments are ideal for entertaining and getting together with the new friends you are likely to make while attending the competition. Let’s party!!
